About Jess Nicole Handmade

An Ongoing Study in Making a Life by Hand

Introduction

There’s a quiet kind of wonder in making something from start to finish, slowly, intentionally, and with care. With Jess Nicole Handmade, that’s the rhythm of everything I do. I design fibercraft patterns that are inspired by nature, rooted in seasonality, and filled with subtle details that invite you to pause, create, and connect with the joy of making.

My Practice

Every design begins with a feeling: a foggy morning, a curling vine, the warmth of wool between my fingers. I follow that feeling through sketches and swatches, into fully formed patterns made to delight your senses and stretch your skills a bit.

The patterns I share are more than just instructions. They’re invitations to slow down, to observe, and to find meaning in the handmade. From crocheted pumpkins to mossy pincushions, knit underthings to sewn skirts, each one is lovingly built to feel both practical and poetic.

The Maker Behind the Name

Hello, I’m Jess

Artist, pattern designer, nature-noticer, and longtime lover of fiber. I live in California with my two sons, two cats & flock of chickens, where our home hums with creativity, meals from scratch, and the soft chaos of in-progress projects.

Jess Nicole Handmade is my way of sharing the beauty I see and the life I’m choosing: one grounded in imagination, handmade living, and the joy of slow growth.

Field Notes:

These are the instincts and inclinations I follow while creating, my internal compass for making things that feel like home.

  • Texture-Minded: Always tuned in to thread, fiber, and feel
  • Whimsy-Seeking: Rooted in the real, but never far from a storybook
  • Seasonal Observer: Inspired by the moods and materials of each season
  • Practically Poetic: Patterns that are both functional and beautiful
  • Detail-Devoted: Clear instructions and thoughtful design elements
  • Soft-hearted Stitcher: Believes softness is strength and style
  • Field Guide Maker: Designs that document a handmade life
  • Wool Loyalist: Drawn to the warmth and honesty of natural materials
